Alberta’s Ministry of Technology and Innovation used Claude Code with Opus and Sonnet models to scan 466 million lines of code across 1,280 applications in about 20 hours, identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities. Anthropic said the effort compressed roughly 6.5 years of manual review into a single day and also helped the province begin rebuilding outdated systems in modern programming languages. Alberta has published technical documentation of its approach and plans to expand the continuous security-review process across all provincial ministries, eventually consolidating 185 legacy applications into 16 modern systems.
