Anthropic announced it is building an in-house team to design custom chips for its Claude AI models, hiring engineers to co-design hardware and software that can run Claude more efficiently at scale. The company, which has reached a $30 billion revenue run-rate, will continue using a diversified hardware mix including Google TPUs, Nvidia and AMD chips rather than replacing its existing suppliers. Fabrication and specialized design work will still flow through established manufacturers such as TSMC and Broadcom.
