Stripe has finalized its acquisition of AI startup OpenRouter for more than $7 billion. OpenRouter operates a platform connecting developers to over 400 AI models from more than 60 companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and DeepSeek. The payments processor is acquiring the company to strengthen its position in the AI space and address enterprise demand for cost-effective AI solutions, following its earlier acquisition of billing firm Metronome.
