A class-action antitrust lawsuit filed September 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California accuses Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, and Google of illegally coordinating to slow the pace of AI development. The suit alleges the companies formed a working group in July and that their leaders publicly endorsed a slowdown proposal from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on September 12. Plaintiffs, who are paid subscribers to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Gemini, are seeking treble damages, an injunction, and certification of a nationwide consumer class.
