Apple announced it will introduce stricter controls around macOS’s Full Disk Access feature in response to security risks posed by increasingly capable AI agents. The decision follows reports that Meta’s Muse app and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Mac application accessed sensitive user data without explicit permission. Apple said it will require “very explicit user action” before apps can be granted this level of access to files, messages, mail, and browsing history, though it has not given a specific implementation timeline.
