Hyundai Motor America recalled more than 421,000 2025–2026 Santa Cruz and Tucson models after finding that the camera software behind its AI-assisted Forward Collision-Avoidance system was overly sensitive to objects ahead, causing the brakes to engage unexpectedly. Between October 2024 and April 2026, Hyundai logged 376 complaints tied to the defect, including four crashes that caused four injuries. The company is notifying owners and providing a free software update; no fatalities were reported.
