Mistral AI unveiled Mistral Large 4, a one-trillion-parameter model nicknamed “Le Chonk,” entering public preview on October 6, 2026, with open weights planned for release on October 27. The model uses a mixture-of-experts architecture with 49 billion active parameters, was trained on thousands of Nvidia GPUs, supports more than 160 languages, and targets coding, cybersecurity, finance, and visual-analysis applications. Mistral’s preliminary benchmarks show the model scoring 62% on the DeepSWE v1.1 software-engineering benchmark and 15% on Harvey’s Legal Agent Benchmark, though independent verification of these results is still pending.
