Alibaba’s Qwen team made Qwen3.8-Max, a 2.4-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model, broadly available through a hosted API compatible with OpenAI and DashScope formats. The company confirmed that open weights for both Qwen3.8-Max and a smaller Qwen3.8-27B checkpoint will be released the following week, marking the first time a Max-class Qwen model has been made open. The flagship model supports text, image and video inputs, features a 1-million-token context window, and is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.
