The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking signed a procurement contract with Bull to deploy the LUMI-AI supercomputer in Kajaani, Finland, which will provide a tenfold increase in AI capacity compared to the current LUMI system. The AI-optimized supercomputer, built with AMD Instinct MI430X GPUs and EPYC processors, will support European startups, SMEs, and researchers across manufacturing, health sciences, and climate research. The system is co-funded with a budget of EUR 387.8 million split between EuroHPC JU and a consortium of six participating nations, and is expected to become operational in 2027.
