Beginning on August 2, 2026, the European Commission’s AI Office and national authorities started enforcing the EU Artificial Intelligence Act’s new transparency requirements. Under the rules, chatbots and other interactive AI systems must disclose to users that they are interacting with AI rather than a human, and deepfakes must be labeled with machine-readable marks so they can be detected more easily. The measures are intended to combat deception and let citizens engage with AI technology with informed awareness.
