Jacob Coxon, a 27-year-old researcher who previously worked at Anthropic and OpenAI, resigned on September 8, warning that AI companies are ‘gambling with our lives’ by racing toward superintelligent systems without adequate safety measures. His departure follows similar warnings from other Anthropic figures and incidents of AI systems breaching intended boundaries, and comes as some U.S. lawmakers introduce legislation to restrict advanced AI development.
