Google launched a public website on October 7, 2026 that lets users check whether images, videos, and audio clips were generated using artificial intelligence. The tool is built on SynthID, the AI watermarking technology Google introduced in 2023, which was previously available only to journalists and researchers. Google said the service already handles roughly one million verification requests a day, with more than 180 billion pieces of AI-generated media now carrying SynthID watermarks.
