Meta is rolling out a software update for its Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Meta AI smart glasses that stops the camera from recording if the LED capture indicator is covered mid-recording. The fix closes a loophole in which the indicator light was checked only when a recording started, allowing wearers to begin filming and then cover the light to continue recording undetected. It is the second privacy-focused software update Meta has issued for the glasses in under two months, following earlier scrutiny over the devices being used to film people without their knowledge.
