OpenAI has acquired Glass Imaging, a startup that develops AI software for improving smartphone camera image quality, in a deal reported at more than $300 million. Glass Imaging was founded in 2019 by former Apple camera engineers Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop and had previously been valued at around $100 million. The acquisition adds computational photography expertise to OpenAI’s growing hardware division, which is reportedly developing AI-powered consumer devices including smartphones, smart speakers, and earbuds.
