OpenAI has integrated ChatGPT for Healthcare with Epic’s electronic health record system, letting clinicians pull authorized patient data covering more than 325 million patients directly into the chat interface. The integration is read-only, allowing clinicians to summarize appointment notes, lab results, medications, and specialist documentation without writing back to the chart. OpenAI also launched a companion Healthcare Public Data plugin that connects the workspace to sources such as PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov for verifying clinical information in-flow.
