OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Work, an AI agent built into ChatGPT that gathers information across a user’s apps and files to complete multi-step tasks independently. Powered by GPT-5.6 and integrated with OpenAI’s Codex coding tool, the agent can produce finished documents, spreadsheets, presentations and websites while working for extended stretches on a single project. The rollout began on web, mobile and desktop, with Pro and Enterprise subscribers gaining access first, followed by Plus and Business users in the following days. The launch intensifies competition with Anthropic and other rivals building autonomous agents for professional work.
