The Pentagon has integrated customized versions of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and xAI’s Grok into GenAI.mil, its secure centralized portal for artificial intelligence tools. These military-tailored versions are accessible to roughly 3 million Department of Defense personnel and exclude the data-collection practices common in consumer AI products. The platform, which launched last year with Google Gemini, has already attracted more than 1.7 million users.
