For a fixed test-time-scaling candidate budget (N=8), splitting generation into more, smaller sequential calls costs 4.64-4.86x more gross GPU energy and 5.77-6.12x higher P95 latency than one batched call on A100s, arguing evals must report generation schedule and systems metrics, not just candidate count and accuracy.
