Attackers used deepfake voice cloning, forged signatures, and social engineering to impersonate senior managers at an overseas subsidiary of Bengaluru-based Capillary Technologies, authorizing transfers of roughly €3 million (about $3.4 million, converted from the original currency) to unauthorized third-party accounts. The company disclosed the fraud on July 6, 2026, and said about €450,000 has since been recovered, with no evidence that customer data, employee data, or technology infrastructure was compromised. Capillary appointed KPMG to conduct a forensic audit and is working with banks and law enforcement to recover the remaining funds.
