An investigation by AI-detection firm GPTZero found that several PwC “thought leadership” reports published between 2024 and 2026 — covering topics including agentic AI, government services, and autonomous mobility — contained fabricated frameworks, citations to sources that do not exist (including one attributed to a teenage blogger), and repeated statistics attributed to different, inconsistent sources. One report showed an estimated 84% likelihood of being AI-generated, rising to 100% once its reference section was excluded. PwC characterized the findings as requiring only limited citation updates rather than a broader quality failure.
