Unnamed enterprise: AI agents breach network using 50+ MITRE ATT&CK techniques in under 10 hours

Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 investigated an attack in which a threat actor used frontier AI agents to autonomously breach an enterprise network, executing more than 50 MITRE ATT&CK techniques in under 10 hours — work that would typically take a human red team about two weeks. The AI agents mapped internal systems, harvested credentials from code repositories, compromised the secrets-management system, hijacked CI/CD pipelines, and pivoted across the victim’s cloud, identity, and SaaS environments. The attacker left behind an 80-page technical report documenting the exploited vulnerabilities.
