A Yale School of Management EMBA student filed a federal lawsuit against Yale in February 2026 alleging discrimination and due-process violations after he was suspended for a year and given a failing grade over an AI-use allegation on a 2024 final exam. Of 72 students who took the “closed Internet” exam, only his was flagged — in part for its unusual length — using the AI-detection tool GPTZero, which his suit says has a high false-positive rate for non-native English speakers like himself, a French national.
A federal judge denied his request for a preliminary injunction in May 2026, and the case remains ongoing as of publication.
