Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, China’s largest chip foundry, reported quarterly revenue exceeding $3 billion for the first time, driven by surging AI-related chip demand. The company raised prices on its most sought-after manufacturing capacity, citing a persistent gap between industry-leading wafer prices and its own rates. SMIC said tight capacity is expected to continue supporting elevated pricing and demand through the rest of 2026.
