A federal magistrate judge in the District of Oregon sanctioned the two lawyers a combined $110,204.38, split between a monetary penalty and opposing counsel’s fees, dismissed the underlying case with prejudice, and referred the matter for state bar discipline. It is described as the largest AI-hallucination sanction issued by a US court to date.
