Google’s Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol has formally joined the Linux Foundation-backed Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), placing it under the same neutral governance as Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol. A2A defines how AI agents discover one another and delegate tasks across different frameworks and vendors, while MCP handles agent-to-tool integration. The AAIF has grown to more than 250 members, including AWS, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google and OpenAI, as the industry consolidates around shared standards for interoperable AI agents.
