XPeng’s robotics division has raised more than $900 million in its first funding round at a $6.3 billion valuation, which the company calls the largest single-round private financing in the history of China’s embodied AI industry. The round was led by IDG Capital with participation from Tencent and Alibaba, and will fund mass production of XPeng’s IRON humanoid robot, which has 76 degrees of freedom and runs on custom AI chips. XPeng aims to begin production by the end of 2026 and scale to more than 1 million units annually by 2030.
