Saudi Arabia’s state-backed AI company Humain unveiled Humain-m3, an Arabic-language model built on top of Chinese firm MiniMax’s open-weight M3 base, at the LEAP technology conference in Riyadh. The model uses a mixture-of-experts architecture with roughly 428 billion total parameters and 23 billion active parameters per token, trained on more than a trillion Arabic tokens, and scored an average of about 89% across seven Arabic-language benchmarks. Humain, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, plans to release the model’s weights as open source and says the project reflects the kingdom’s strategy of pursuing AI partnerships with both China and the United States.
