Executives from OpenAI, Anthropic and Hugging Face briefed the UN Security Council on the risks of advanced AI systems, with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stating that, if managed poorly, AI could be a risk to humanity as a whole and calling it the most important global security issue facing the world today. The leaders called for international cooperation and stronger safety standards even as the Trump administration has rejected international AI-governance frameworks. It is among the first times AI company leaders have addressed the Security Council directly on the topic.
