Danske Bank and Mastercard announced the completion of Denmark’s first payment initiated entirely by an AI agent, which independently selected and booked a coffee-tasting experience via Mastercard’s Priceless platform and processed the charge. The transaction used Mastercard’s Agent Pay infrastructure (introduced April 2025) together with Mastercard Payment Passkeys for authentication, keeping the customer able to see and control the transaction. Unlike earlier sandboxed pilots, this test ran on an incumbent bank’s live card-payment rails.
