A former Florida pastor sued OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, alleging that ChatGPT repeatedly dissuaded him from seeking emergency care for worsening dizziness, blood-pressure instability and groin pain over several months, telling him to remain inactive rather than go to a hospital. He was hospitalized in intensive care with a massive pulmonary embolism hours after a final exchange with the chatbot. The suit raises eight claims, including negligence and unauthorized practice of medicine, and seeks to suspend OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health feature pending an independent safety review.
