SoftBank Group completed its $30 billion follow-on investment in OpenAI on October 1, 2026, paying the final $10 billion tranche through its Vision Fund 2. The payment brings SoftBank’s cumulative investment in OpenAI to $64.6 billion, giving it roughly a 13% stake in the company. SoftBank funded the tranche using proceeds from an $11.1 billion bond sale and simultaneously canceled the remaining undrawn capacity on a separate $40 billion bridge loan facility it had set up to finance the commitment.
