Biohub, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health, and technology companies Google DeepMind, Isomorphic Labs, and Meta announced on October 7, 2026 a combined $1.8 billion commitment to generate AI-ready biological data. The Department of Energy will invest more than $500 million over five years, NIH will coordinate datasets from roughly $500 million in prior federal investment, and the three tech companies are contributing $300 million collectively, on top of Biohub’s earlier $500 million pledge. The initiative aims to build predictive AI models of biology to accelerate the discovery of new disease treatments.
