Anthropic has published details of Scion, an in-house source control system it built to replace Git for its own engineering organization. The company says it migrated its entire monorepo from Git to Scion over about five months, driven by the needs of always-online AI coding agents working alongside human engineers. Scion moves most operations to the server and uses sparse, virtualized checkouts rather than full local clones. Anthropic reports the redesign cut continuous-integration checkout times from minutes down to seconds.
