The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health announced the teams selected for its ADVOCATE program, a $62.7 million initiative to build the first FDA-authorized clinical AI agent system for cardiovascular care. Selected teams, including Tempus AI and UpDoc (with technology partners Microsoft, OpenAI and Nvidia), will develop patient-facing AI agents and supervisory monitoring systems aimed at continuous heart-failure management, particularly in the nearly half of U.S. counties lacking a cardiologist. ARPA-H projects the program could generate roughly $28 billion in annual cost savings for heart-failure care alone.
