The Nevada Transportation Authority unanimously approved permits allowing Tesla, Uber, and Waymo to operate up to 8,000 robotaxis in Clark County over the next 12 months. Tesla was authorized for up to 5,000 vehicles, while Waymo and Uber were each approved for 1,000, though Tesla’s own chief engineer said the company realistically expects to deploy only about 2,500 within the year. The approvals drew opposition from taxi and livery operators worried about market saturation and road congestion.
