Starmangalsutra Private Limited, a jewelry-manufacturing subsidiary of Sky Gold and Diamonds in India, lost approximately ₹10.70 crore (about $1.1 million) after attackers compromised a company-issued phone and laptop and used deepfake audio/video to impersonate a company director. An employee, believing the instructions were genuine, transferred funds to unknown bank accounts before the company verified that the director had issued no such instructions. The incident was reported to cybercrime authorities.
