Travis Kalanick’s industrial automation venture Atoms has raised $1.7 billion in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Bain Capital, Fifth Wall, and Uber. Atoms consolidates several of Kalanick’s prior ventures, including businesses linked to Cloud Kitchens and the acquired automation firm Pronto, into a single holding company applying AI, sensors, and robotics to industries such as food, mining, and transportation. The round notably reunites Kalanick with Uber, the company he co-founded before being ousted as CEO in 2017.
