Zhipu AI’s Hong Kong-listed stock surged as much as 48% and closed up 32.8% after the Beijing-based firm unveiled GLM-5.2, its most advanced language model, featuring a 1-million-token context window. The company plans to release GLM-5.2 as open source under the permissive MIT license, with API access priced at roughly one-tenth the cost of premium Western competitors. GLM-5.2 will be available to users of Zhipu’s new GLM Coding Plan subscription. The announcement landed shortly after U.S. export restrictions temporarily affected access to competing American AI models, positioning Zhipu to attract users seeking lower-cost alternatives.
