A Greek criminal organization posed as utility and telecom employees, tricked victims into calling relatives to ‘confirm’ fake procedures, secretly recorded brief voice samples during those calls, and then used AI voice-cloning to impersonate the relatives in follow-up calls demanding cash or valuables. Police arrested two suspects in Attica, identified four more, and confirmed the group’s involvement in at least five cases with total illegal proceeds exceeding €1 million.
